Austin Real Estate

As a researcher for a major publication, I am the type of person that always looks thoroughly into a matter before rushing in. When I visited Austin, Texas, in fact, I had to learn just about everything about the city and Austin real estate, in particular. I’ll share what I gathered about Austin so far…

First of all, Texas is the very largest state in the continental United States with 2,705 square miles and Austin is the capitol of Texas. The finest Austin real estate is located in a central Texas hilly area. Indeed, Austin is in what’s called the ‘Hill Country.’ Dozens of Indian tribes lived in the Hill Country. The Tonkawa, Lipan Apaches, and the Comanche’s are just some of them… The land on the Colorado River was refreshed with plentiful water to nourish crops and settlements. For centuries thousands of years, the natives in hunted, farmed, traded, and warred amongst each other.

It was in 1835 that everything changed. Westerners flocked to the region because they were attracted by its superb soil, plentiful pure water and also its strategic locale. The first Texans, however, along with good people and pioneers, there were some who became gamblers, prostitutes and endured many vices. The picture today of Austin real estate is much, much different. After all, Austin has established a few of the best universities and colleges in the nation, such as the ‘University of Texas.’ The Texas early years were challenging and rugged but the city is now something special with a soft watery heart…

I found that Austin’s climate is good and mild with subtropical breezes. Of course, hot, humid summers are not uncommon but mild winters are perfect. Austin’s fast growth into a big city may have begun in the 1990’s. Austin attracted many technology engineers and programmers and is now known as a big tech center with big computer hardware and software companies.

One of the best thing’s about Austin, however, is their world class museums… There’s the Dougherty Arts Center- which has the Julia C. Butridge Gallery, theater and the Dougherty Arts School. Then there is the Austin Nature and Science Center. Of course , the George Washington Carver Museum and Cultural Center – which is the very first museum in Texas that is dedicated to African Americans. Then there is the Elisabet Ney Museum – which is sculptor Elisabet Ney's (1833-1907) old studio. The O. Henry Museum which is a museum dedicated to the author and his life with artifacts and memorabilia.
